Random Chance
Random characters which are either equal to the desired text or not
(All or nothing.) Many opponents of evolution argue that objects as complicated as mammals or a human eye couldn't be produced by random chance. They're right, unfortunately evolution doesn't say any such thing.
Cumulative Selection (Natural Selection)
You can be partly correct here. Ie, having part of an eye (light perception) is better than having no eye at all. On each iteration, there is the possibility of improving on a previous state. Desireable traits are heritable (carried forward from one iteration to the next) If you watch long enough (or change the desired text above to a smaller sample) you can observe evolution in action.
